          Measure the vertical and horizontal dimensions of your artwork to the nearest 1/16th of an inch. The center opening of your custom cut mat is based on the dimensions you provide. We recommend reducing the dimensions by ¼” for both the horizontal and vertical measurements to insure your mat opening covers the outside edges of your artwork. You can choose a single, double or triple mat from our broad selection of colors. Your measurement for the mat opening remains the same whether you choose the single, double or triple mat option.

          You have the option to choose the border width of your custom cut mat. By clicking on “Larger” or “Smaller” in the visualization software, you can adjust the mat border width of the top mat. Although there are no ‘rules’, mat borders typically range from 2” for smaller pieces (8”x 10”) to 5” for larger pieces (24”x 32”). The maximum standard mat size is 32” x 40”. The software will automatically calculate the outside dimensions of your custom cut mat, and it will not allow you to exceed the maximum allowable dimensions.

          Your custom cut mat will arrive with a custom cut backing board to mount your artwork to. We recommend using an acid free double sided adhesive tape (known as ATG tape) to mount your artwork and custom cut mat(s) to the backing board.

          Choose from our broad selection of frame styles and colors. The size of your frame will automatically be calculated depending on the number of mats you choose and the mat border width you select. Your complete DIY framing package will be shipped with custom cut glass, spring clips (to secure your artwork into the frame rabbet) and hanging hardware.
